Dance for Musical Theatre THR 2310            

  • Performance studio in musical theatre dance for theatre and non-theatre majors

  • Repertory-based with emphasis on technique/style within a wide dance spectrum (ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap)

Survey of Musical Theatre THR 4994

  • History, theory, process and performance survey course for theatre and non-theatre majors

  • Lecture-based with media, e-reserve, Blackboard, textbook, and supplementary course packet

Musical Theatre Repertory THTR 4039

  • Performance studio in musical theatre culminating with end-semester showcase 

  • Extensive coaching in voice, acting, movement and auditioning in addition to ensemble and duet repertory

  • Admittance to course by audition only

Advanced Seminar:  The Golden Age of Musicals ASEM 2694 

  • History, theory, process and performance survey course for seniors in a seminar format

  • "Writing intensive" component

  • Lecture-based with media (inc. CourseMedia), e-reserve, Blackboard, textbook, and course packet

Directing:  THR2150 

  • Theory, process, and practicum – introductory directing course for theatre and non-theatre majors

  • Culminates with showcase of student-directed scenes for invited audience

  • Lecture-based with studio practicum, supported by media, Blackboard, and supplementary course packet

Acting I THEA 2871

  • Method-based (Stanislavski, Meisner) beginning acting class for theatre and non-theatre majors

  • Incorporation of physical training through Viewpoints, Suzuki, Alexander, and Ashtanga yoga

  • Emphasis on process, physicality, relaxation, focus, improvisation, initial monologue and scene work
